The PAY DAY LOAN TRAP
written by Peter Temple (4 Pillars)

Many families in the Brampton area take the unfortunate step of securing Pay Day Loans to help with short term cash flow needs but unfortunately these loans can get out of control quickly and it can be a big problem. See below an excellent article on exactly what a Pay Day loan is and why to avoid them:

What is a Pay Day Loan?
Pay day loans are short term unsecured loans for unexpected cash needs. Usually the loans are intended to be paid back within 2 weeks or by the next pay date. They should be used to cover very occasional emergencies and not for making up the shortfall in monthly budgets.

You Are More Important Than You Realize

We all have heard, "You're Richer Than You Think".
However, one of the biggest problems facing individuals and families
is understanding the importance of each individual.
Here's why...

Let me first start with Parents..

As parents, you may be saying you already know how important your kids are.
You love your kids more than you do yourselves.
You love your spouse more than ever.
You would do anything for them.
You will make sure they are happy, loved, safe and secure...
How should you show this?... by your actions.
We all hear action speaks louder than words, however, some parents
aren't practicing what they preach.
Your role as a parent is extremely important.
It is the parent's responsibility to ensure the family is building a financial foundation
to secure the future for their spouse and their kids they dearly love.
However, most parents have missed or ignored the most important aspect of a financial foundation.

Generation X'ers Missing The Boat

GENERATION X.

Are you in this category?  The name has a pretty good ring to it, but what else is there
to know about this group of people.

The mindsets of this group are pretty similar amongst most of them.
These individuals are Action Oriented.
They are results focused.
Some are technologically savvy and some have a bit of a risk taker within them.
Most of them are self reliant.

Although these characteristics of the Generation X individual may seem positive,
there is the other side that hurts most individuals in this generation.
When it comes to financially planning for their future,
they all have differing mindsets.
Here's how:

Years Ago, A Millionaire Said This To Me....

A couple years ago, while in college here in Toronto.  I had the opportunity
to be mentored by a Millionaire.
At the time, he shared with me tips but it was never clear to me as it is now.
He challenged my thinking by asking me questions to ponder on from time to time.
One of the first things he said to me was...
"You need to DREAM".

DREAMS are the fire that fuel desire! Dreams give you energy, life, and fulfillment. In the personal development industry, the most commonly accepted definition of success is the steady progression toward a worthwhile goal or dream.

There are probably many people wondering how to realize their dreams and how to
be able to create a business that pays them for helping others achieve their dreams.

I brought this similar question to my mentor.  As he was already a very successful business owner.

Your 365 Page Life Book

For 2015, what do the first 5 pages in your 365 page life book look like so far?
Is it starting off the same as 2014? or is it just blank?
Here's the thing, it's not too late to start. Start by deciding to make changes and begin to write them down. Beware of complacency. Remember, there are two types of "Time Wasters". The Urgent and The Pleasurable.

"I'm Really Too Busy..." - It's A Trap!! In 2015, Don't Get Caught

How many times have you said yourself or heard someone say “Where did the time go?”.  If you think about it, the question is pretty funny.  It’s funny because time doesn’t skip.  There are still 24hrs in each day, however, times does move by quickly.  The problem is, we don’t maximize those hours by working “smarter” or taking care of those things which have the most importance in our lives first.  We get distracted.
As I look back at my life, I saw how I fell into that distraction category.  How I allowed other things to take priority over what’s really important in my life and for my life.  I thank God as I got older, I was able to make a change sooner than later.

As I look over 2014, it feels great to know I’ve been able to help others make a change for their future but they’re still many others who haven’t grasp the importance of making these changes now.  The most common response is “ I’m really too busy”.  It’s a shocking response especially when the topic at hand is of major importance and value.  So what is being “ Too busy”

NOVEMBER IS FINANCIAL LITERACY AWARENESS MONTH

NOVEMBER IS HERE!!!!

The year 2015 is inching every bit closer.  Soon it will be a time to reflect on what you've accomplished for this year, what you will accomplish for the next and what changes will you be making.

What better way to prepare for 2015, than to ensure your financial future is in order.  The economy is changing.  Are you?  How confident are you that you'll be financially secure in the next 5, 10, 20 years?  Does your family rely on your income? Are you prepared if the unthinkable should happen?

NOVEMBER IS FINANCIAL LITERACY AWARENESS MONTH

Without access to financial literacy support, low income earners are at greater risk of slipping further into poverty.  Middle class Canadians are increasingly indebted, wages are stagnated and are unlikely to move into higher income brackets but yet, more debt is accumulated.

This month, events are organized across Canada to educate and engage with the public regarding the need for financial literacy and promote services available to the public.

The need for financial literacy in Canada has been highlighted by the Investor Education Fund’s (IEF) study on Ontarians, discovering that only 3 out of 10 Ontarians are aware of typical priorities and strategies for long-term saving and even fewer know how financial priorities change with age.
The purpose of this month is to educate the public so Canadians are equipped to:
- Provide for themselves and their family
- Invest in their future and the future of their children
- Contribute to the community as a good citizen
- Know what services are available to Ontarians to help them achieve their financial goals.

For the next few weeks, I will be reaching out to individuals and families to raise awareness of the need for financial literacy and highlight the programs, services and tools available to Canadians in order to help improve your financial knowledge, skills, confidence and financial situations thereby reaching your goals.

Looking forward to getting together
Be Blessed All.
Cheers.

Can You Tell The Difference?

1.
VS.
2.

What's the difference between the two?  Nooo, I don't mean two are in a hammock and the other two are in beach chairs.  I mean in terms of their circumstances.

"Woohoo, I Just Got Paid!!! .. Sigh! And Now It's Gone"

Do you remember the feeling you got when you received your first pay cheque?  Was it something like this?

What excitement!! What joy!!  I'm receiving income!!  Wooohoooo!!  Probably a good time for most to remember right?  The next week, we get back to work pumped and ready to go again.  Can't wait for the next payday.

Then, things begin to happen.... And the ways of the Pay Cycle begin.  This is where things begin to get scary.  Here's why...

From "Man and Employee" to "Businessman, Entrepreneur and Mentor"..... The New Me!!

It's been said and heard numerous of times and I say it a lot to people I speak to also.  You've probably read it before on my blog as well.  I'm talking about this, CHANGE. "Change happens the moment you decide it in your mind and when you take action".   For me, I wanted to make a change, however, like the way most of us feel sometimes, I just didn't know what to do.  Have you ever felt like that before?

Well, I remember a couple years ago, my mentor at the time said to me, "Tremayne, you need to examine yourself and figure out what are some of the things you like to do, then when you do,  figure out what are some goals you would like to achieve. "

This Will Be The Most Important Post You Will Ever Read

Why Do Most People Tend To Put Off Doing Important Things Now?

Proverbs 27:1 - Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

An interesting question but an easy answer.  It's Procrastination.   We all know that word, but do we understand the definition?  "Procrastination is the practice of carrying out less urgent tasks in preference to more urgent ones, or doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones, and thus putting off impending tasks to a later time, sometimes to the "last minute" before the deadline."
Such a true definition.  We've all fallen victim to this.  I fell victim to this as well.  Be honest guys, How many times has someone spoken to you about making a change NOW and you said "I will start from tomorrow".  How many times you felt you needed to call a certain person then you say " Gosh, I will call them tomorrow, too busy now."  Or how about this one, How many times has someone reached out to you to arrange an appointment with you in order to help secure yours and your family's financial future and you respond " Can I reschedule for next week or another time? I have other plans this week."  Have you heard these before?  I sure have.
