The PAY DAY LOAN TRAP
written by Peter Temple (4 Pillars)

Many families in the Brampton area take the unfortunate step of securing Pay Day Loans to help with short term cash flow needs but unfortunately these loans can get out of control quickly and it can be a big problem. See below an excellent article on exactly what a Pay Day loan is and why to avoid them:

What is a Pay Day Loan?
Pay day loans are short term unsecured loans for unexpected cash needs. Usually the loans are intended to be paid back within 2 weeks or by the next pay date. They should be used to cover very occasional emergencies and not for making up the shortfall in monthly budgets.

Generation X'ers Missing The Boat

GENERATION X.

Are you in this category?  The name has a pretty good ring to it, but what else is there
to know about this group of people.

The mindsets of this group are pretty similar amongst most of them.
These individuals are Action Oriented.
They are results focused.
Some are technologically savvy and some have a bit of a risk taker within them.
Most of them are self reliant.

Although these characteristics of the Generation X individual may seem positive,
there is the other side that hurts most individuals in this generation.
When it comes to financially planning for their future,
they all have differing mindsets.
Here's how:

NOVEMBER IS FINANCIAL LITERACY AWARENESS MONTH

NOVEMBER IS HERE!!!!

The year 2015 is inching every bit closer.  Soon it will be a time to reflect on what you've accomplished for this year, what you will accomplish for the next and what changes will you be making.

What better way to prepare for 2015, than to ensure your financial future is in order.  The economy is changing.  Are you?  How confident are you that you'll be financially secure in the next 5, 10, 20 years?  Does your family rely on your income? Are you prepared if the unthinkable should happen?

NOVEMBER IS FINANCIAL LITERACY AWARENESS MONTH

Without access to financial literacy support, low income earners are at greater risk of slipping further into poverty.  Middle class Canadians are increasingly indebted, wages are stagnated and are unlikely to move into higher income brackets but yet, more debt is accumulated.

This month, events are organized across Canada to educate and engage with the public regarding the need for financial literacy and promote services available to the public.

The need for financial literacy in Canada has been highlighted by the Investor Education Fund’s (IEF) study on Ontarians, discovering that only 3 out of 10 Ontarians are aware of typical priorities and strategies for long-term saving and even fewer know how financial priorities change with age.
The purpose of this month is to educate the public so Canadians are equipped to:
- Provide for themselves and their family
- Invest in their future and the future of their children
- Contribute to the community as a good citizen
- Know what services are available to Ontarians to help them achieve their financial goals.

For the next few weeks, I will be reaching out to individuals and families to raise awareness of the need for financial literacy and highlight the programs, services and tools available to Canadians in order to help improve your financial knowledge, skills, confidence and financial situations thereby reaching your goals.

Looking forward to getting together
Be Blessed All.
Cheers.

"Woohoo, I Just Got Paid!!! .. Sigh! And Now It's Gone"

Do you remember the feeling you got when you received your first pay cheque?  Was it something like this?

What excitement!! What joy!!  I'm receiving income!!  Wooohoooo!!  Probably a good time for most to remember right?  The next week, we get back to work pumped and ready to go again.  Can't wait for the next payday.

Then, things begin to happen.... And the ways of the Pay Cycle begin.  This is where things begin to get scary.  Here's why...

From "Man and Employee" to "Businessman, Entrepreneur and Mentor"..... The New Me!!

It's been said and heard numerous of times and I say it a lot to people I speak to also.  You've probably read it before on my blog as well.  I'm talking about this, CHANGE. "Change happens the moment you decide it in your mind and when you take action".   For me, I wanted to make a change, however, like the way most of us feel sometimes, I just didn't know what to do.  Have you ever felt like that before?

Well, I remember a couple years ago, my mentor at the time said to me, "Tremayne, you need to examine yourself and figure out what are some of the things you like to do, then when you do,  figure out what are some goals you would like to achieve. "

Love Your Friends But Stop Listening To Them

Nah! I'm not saying to stop listening to your friends totally, but there are certain topics where listening to your friends may not always be the wisest decision to make. Here's why...

Fantastic Turnout Last Weekend And Some Great News!!!!

Last weekend was a fantastic turnout to the How Money Works Seminar.  The entire room was packed.  It was so packed that some people had to stand up unfortunately.  However, this is a great sign as it shows that there are people out there who are serious about securing their financial future , serious about ensuring their families are well protected and serious about learning how to retire with peace of mind.

"I'm tired of working for money, I want money to work for me"

Hi Everyone,
This is somewhat a different post from what I usually put up, this is more of an invitation.  For a while now, I've been witnessing and hearing many people voice how much work they have to put in in order to pay the bills or survive.  Some people can't even picture their future or imagine fulfilling their dreams because of the debt they see themselves in.  I constantly hear " Gosh, times are tough, don't think I can ever retire", " Too many bills to pay so I have to keep working", " I can't save anything even though I work so hard, because I hardly see the money anyway.   It all goes to bills".

Let's stop it right there.  Take a deep breath, breathe out slowly and relax your mind.  How does this sound? instead of you working all the time for money, what if you let money work for you?  Wouldn't that be better?

I know you're probably asking but , How ?  How can I make money work for me?  The answer is, you just have to simply know how money works and this is the event to be able to learn just that.

Principles of True Performance #2

A Blessed Day to Everyone,

Continuing on with Principles of True Performance #2, the word today is TRAINING. The difference between good and excellent companies is training. The only thing worse than training employees and losing them is to not train them and keep them!

Do You Really Think You Are Ready To Retire? Are You Even Close?

1)How often do you see a financial advisor?
2)When was the last time you had a financial review done?
3)How important is financial security to you?
4)Are you on track to retire comfortably or would you have to work longer than you anticipated?
5)What do you expect will be your primary source of income in retirement?

There are many more questions to be asked, but alot of the wrong answers. This is why I've committed myself to helping people in these areas. Look at this information I gathered below.

Has this happened to you?? You might not even know.

If this doesn't bother you, I don't know what will.

As RRSP season closed and many Canadians are preparing their taxes, a CBC Marketplace investigation reveals that financial advisers at some of Canada’s top banks and firms are giving consumers inaccurate, misleading and inappropriate advice.

This is why it is important to speak with people that you know will genuinely help you.
