Ever Interviewed Your Future? I Decided To.

Who are the 5 people in your life you currently spend most of your time with?

Think about it for a minute.  Look at how you spend your day, week and month.  Who do you communicate with more, who do you meet with more or who do you go out with more?

Then ask yourself this question.  Do they match who you want to become in the future?
These are great questions to really identify your core circle.  Why is it important you might ask?  Well, one of my mentors Zig Ziglar and the famous self-help guru Jim Rohn both put it this way.

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

Proverbs 13:20 "Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

Proverbs 22:24-25 - Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.

It's a proven fact that who you spend the most time with, influences the person you eventually become.  The type of people you interact with more, influences the consciousness level you operate in and the subject matter you engage in.  It brings out a side of you that is further reinforced by their default response tendencies.   If you're around happy people more, you'll be happy.  If you're around grumpy people more, you'll be grumpy.  If you're around stressed people more, you'll be stressed.  So as an example,  If you think about it, most of us spend more time at our workplace.  8hrs a day, 5 days a week.  Some people even do more hours.  We are around the people who are doing the same thing we're doing.  How are the people at work you interact with?  What's their attitude?  What's their circumstance?

On the flip-side, if you're around motivated, successful and positive minded individuals who believe in taking responsibility of their lives, you'll become a proactive individual who shapes his/her future. Don't get me wrong, this does not mean you should sever relationships or cut off every single person who don't contribute to your goals, well unless they are seriously dragging you down.  It just means you should reduce the amount of contact you are having with people who do not enable you to become better and increase the contact with those who are.

I was asked this question,  "Someone who has "climbed up the ladder" in a corporation, probably in upper management, could probably make an average of $90K-$100K a year.  However, which would you choose, $50K a month or $90K a year?"

Come on now, of course this was a very easy response for me.  I said 50K a month definitely.  This was followed by, since you chose 50K/month, are the people you're around, which most likely are the people in your workplace, are they helping enable or disable the vision for yourself?"  There was no need for me to even answer.  I realized I needed to be around the people more that would help enable the vision I had for myself and for my family.

To make $50K a month, talk to people who are already doing it.  What a great evening of learning, connecting and developing partnership with some of the most successful guys in Canada.

I challenge you to do this.

In the next few days, interview your future.
Talk to about 3 people that's doing what you are doing.  See what they say about their situation.
If you like their answers, then continue with what you are doing and how you're living your life.

Otherwise,
It's time to shape your life.  Identify and increase contact with the people who will enable you to become the best person you can be.  Be around those who are like-minded as you will find you will start thinking on the same wavelength and start talking about the same topics.

I'm connecting with goal-oriented, business-minded and coachable people and I'm always looking to connect with more like-minded individuals.

If that's you or if you've decided that's who you want to be, then let's connect too.  Shaping each other's lives will be a winner.

Be Blessed All.
